What are IOP and PHP? (old)
Foresight’s Joint Commission-Accredited Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization programs (IOP/PHP) are designed to meet the needs within the community and increase access to higher levels of care. Accreditation allows Foresight to work closely with insurance companies to get coverage for services.
Foresight’s Intensive Treatment Services team provides group therapy, individual therapy, and medication management combined with education and assistance to process, support, and build skills. We offer both virtual and in-person IOPs at our Berkeley and Folsom locations for adults 18 years of age and older. Our goal is to offer you the right care and support while allowing you to keep your daily commitments.
Who might benefit from IOP or PHP?
IOP and PHP are beneficial for individuals experiencing intense or acute mental health symptoms that require more support than traditional outpatient care can offer. They serve as a crucial intervention by providing a more structured and intensive treatment environment.
IOP and PHP:
- Are ideal for individuals seeking transitional support after inpatient hospitalization or residential treatment
- Offer a bridge back to daily life while maintaining a higher level of care
- Provide a middle ground between full hospitalization and outpatient therapy
- Help individuals stabilize their symptoms, develop coping strategies, and work toward recovery in a supportive, structured setting
How can IOP / PHP help?
- Assist clients in rapidly decreasing symptoms, self-harm behaviors, and/or suicidal ideation
- Provide a broad scope of education that allows clients to build awareness of triggers, gain therapeutic skills from evidence-based modalities (i.e., CBT, DBT), and improve confidence in ability to manage self and the world around them
- Help improve overall quality of life and lessen feelings of isolation by providing a sense of community and fostering connection and self-reflection
About IOP
If you’re seeking a supportive environment that allows for flexibility with your daily commitments, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) might be just what you need. IOPs offer a structured experience for three hours a day, three days a week. This setup allows you to gain more support and engage in meaningful treatment while still meeting your responsibilities at work, school, or home.
In an IOP, you’ll find a mix of group therapy sessions, individual therapy opportunities, and medication management (as needed). Group therapy provides an opportunity to not only process but also gain education aimed at enhancing your understanding of mental health and developing coping strategies.
About PHP
For those who need a higher level of care, but don’t require 24-hour supervision, a PHP is a robust treatment option. In our program, you will spend five hours a day, five days a week, allowing for an intensive focus on your mental health in a supportive environment, with the comfort of returning home each evening.
PHPs combine medical and medication monitoring, individual and group therapy sessions, and therapeutic activities to create a comprehensive treatment plan. This level of care is suited for individuals stepping down from inpatient treatment or those who require more intensive support than an IOP can offer.
